Glengarry Glen Ross
                               -Fall 2005

Since 1994 Rob Brown had been working on, editing, thinking and improvising for an eventual production of David Mamet's Glengarry Glen Ross.

Glengarry Glen Ross is the story of four salesmen, Shelly "The Machine" Levene, Richard Roma, Dave Moss, and Jill Aaronow, and their immediate supervisor, Jane Williamson, who work together selling undesirable real estate at inflated prices. The play takes place at the end of a month in which the bosses of the company, Mitch and Murray, have declared a sales contest, as announced by company headhunter, William Blake.

"I think the dramatic nature and adult language in the play opened up the door for Tumbleweed to consider doing more dramatic work in the future," he said.

The salesman who clears a certain high dollar amount will win a Cadillac, and the two salesmen who perform worst will be fired. A dry erase board is used to keep track of each person's sales. Roma, who makes good sales, is the top man on the board, but the other three are all having trouble and getting increasingly worried.

This is Glengarry Glen Ross, where success and failure rest in the meanings that get attached to these two otherwise meaningless words.
